The 3rd Danko Ichikawa Shinshō Shunjūkai (October 2026)

The evening show of the 3rd Shinshō Shunjūkai, Danko Ichikawa's own training stage in Kyoto. Three dance pieces, a bewitching ghost in Utō that won my heart, plus merch, an exhibit, gifts for friends.

September Program at the Kabukiza Theatre: Matinee (September 2026)

I came for Danko, but Tatsunosuke’s female role stole my eyes again. Kikugoro’s Ofude in a scene unseen at the Kabukiza for 58 years, the "root of it all" in Sakaro, and an interval lunch crisis — all from my seat by the hanamichi.

Super Kabuki “Princess Mononoke”: Matinee (July 2026)

Super Kabuki "Princess Mononoke" at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre. Faithful to the film, with every one of Ashitaka's iconic moments - and Tokizo Nakamura's Lady Eboshi stole my heart. Leaf confetti drifted down to my seat, too.

October Program at the Kabukiza Theatre: Part 3 (October 2025)

Part 3 (Cast A) of the full-length Yoshitsune and the Thousand Cherry Trees, marking Shochiku's 130th anniversary. Danko Ichikawa's fox Tadanobu was adorable and heartbreaking, with unaju before the show and medetai-yaki at last.

July Program at the Kabukiza Theatre: Evening Show (July 2025)

I came for 'Chō no Michiyuki', danced by Somegoro Ichikawa and Danko Ichikawa — delicate and lovely at first, then swept into the torments of hell. With 'Onihei Hankachō: Kettō' starring Koshiro Matsumoto, and a long-awaited medetai-yaki.
